Information for the school

Serik Yunus Emre Anadolu Lisesi, in Antalya, Turkey is an anatolian secondary school. It is located in Serik, Antalya, Mediterranean Sea Reagion. As it was established 47 years ago and it has a very long history, it has been one of the best-known schools of the city due to its good quality of education, great succes in sports events and universty entrance exam. There are 802 students, from the 9th to the 12th grade, between the age of 14 and 18. It has a wide range of programme specific to students skills and interests. We offer classes of Mathematics, Computer Science, Foreign Languages (English and German), Arts and Sports.  Its important approach is to lead to students their talented skills and to provide them benificial knowledge in their future professions. Even if we have English classes in each grade of our school, the students don’t have the chance to travel to other countries. We have champoinships in different competitions on local and national levels. Although our students are really skillful in sports and arts, they can improve themselves as much as they see and unfortunately they are limited with this town because they cannot go even to other cities. The project will influence such elements as the development of language competences, getting to know new cultures, tolerance to different people, group work, interpersonal communication, historical and geographical communication, ability to use multimedia effectively. Learning difficulties- apply to small number of students , particularly those who lack the skill of methodical work, interest development or abilities needed to function well in a society. Moreover, our students will have the chance to improve their language and social skills, to go to the partner countries, to know new people, to learn about new cultures as it is obvious that they cannot do any of these by themselves or with their poor financial status. We want to prove an interest in the cooparation with other European schools in order to broaden our perspective, to enhance the quality of teaching, learning, social studies and school management. We are also interested in enlarging our perspective concerning with different teaching methods and approaches, thus opening new perspectives for our teachers and students. Learning about different cultures and civilizations will enable our students to become more aware and tolerant towards European countries, especially now when Turkey is about to be a member of European Union and it’s our priority to contribute to the participation process of Turkey to European Union, to ensure that our pupils become active European citizens in future and to help the students become the adults of a multiculturel inclusive society.
