Our school is an autonomous religious teaching institution based in Granada, Spain. This philanthropic institution does not seek any profit from education and vocational training, which includes early childhood education, guardianship and custody for children up to 3 years, special education, compensatory education, further education and adult education and follows the doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church for complementary food, accommodation and transportation services.
It was founded by Andrés Manjón whose desire was to work for the cultural, social and religious promotion in the society, thus, he dedicated all his time and determination to establish the “Ave Maria” school and after his strong efforts his original pedagogical methods were applied and in 1918 there already were schools in 36 Spanish provinces.
The instituion seeks that its students would perfectly understand their responsibilities in life and in the attainment of true freedom, be able to actively participate in the world and follow God’s plan. They strive to establish the dialogue between the culture we transmit and the Christian faith, want to show their students that they can and should use critical thinking to understand and influence the society and coming generations. Propose to the students the obligation to understand their civic commitments, but without trying to channel them in certain political lines, make them aware that the Christian faith is compatible with various political opinions. Lead them to the path where they would apprehend to love, respect their family, country, religion and humanity. Bring the students the conviction that “Ave Maria” is a school that seeks to form a person so that he could participate actively in social life, be willing to communicate and collaborate with others in order to ensure the common good of the society, to raise conscientious Catholics who would use their talents and Christian values to build a better society. They strive to achieve friendly environment in the school, educating in collaboration and not in competition, avoiding all kinds of privileges and avoiding any kind of discrimination.
What they promise to their students is to foster the spirit of creativity, respect and cultivate the originality of each student, as every one of them develops his personality in different ways.
The school has been a member of the Horizont 2020 project
