Debating different policies, challenging their strengths and weaknesses, enabled me to understand their impact on issues as poverty and human rights abuses. Being a problem solver, I want to utilize my rhetorical and debating skills in order to solve problems in our society and raise awareness about pressing issues.
I believe that the public discourse could be a powerful tool for solving complex problems. The ability to participate in that public debate is crucial for me. Debating gives me the opportunity to express my civil position and to improve my ideas by comparing their strengths and weaknesses.
Owing to my debate experience I was ranked as The best Delegate in a number of „National Model United Nations“ simulations, where I negotiated on various issues and realized the complexity and fragility of global relations.
Representing my country at international debate competitions, I learned to discuss and analyze controversial topics in an open-minded manner. Thus, I formed an opinion about a variety of issues.
Debating on different motions allowed me to develop logical and practical thinking which I make use of in almost every aspect of my life.
For the past couple of months I have been endeavoring to coach some bright novice debaters in my debate club. I am going to promulgate what I have learned in order to help as many people as I can.
